
The employee must be proficient in venipuncture and clerical skills. The clerical skills apply to computers, fax machines, telephone, scanners as well as any other non-technical devices used in the laboratory. The employee must also have a general knowledge of the work performed in the laboratory and the urgency of reporting results.

Education: High School Diploma. Phlebotomy Certification
Experience: Minimum 6 months experience in blood sample collection.1 year of experience
Skills: Phlebotomy, clerical skills
Knowledge: Specific knowledge of the human body related to venipuncture safety
Abilities: Must be able to perform blood collection on patients of all ages
OSHA Categories: Category I - Duties performed routinely require exposure to blood, body fluid and tissue
Physical Requirements
Light Work - Exerting up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg control requires exertion of forces greater than that of sedentary work and if the worker sits most of the time, the job is considered light work.
