Laboratory Director
Manages, supervises and directs a variety of routine and/or complex analysis on clinical specimens in all areas of the laboratory. Oversees the day to day operations of the Lab Department.
Pay based on experience starting at $77,438.40
Responsibilities
Demonstrates the ability to assess technical and/or instrument problems, including QC and abnormal findings, to consider alternatives and to choose appropriate course of action. , Develops policies and procedures within the laboratory area and oversees all personnel performing laboratory procedures. , Ensures that Joint Commission and other applicable accrediting body standards are met, for assigned departments., Implements quality control measures which ensures positive outcomes on a daily
basis for all patients and/or customers., Maintains a knowledgeable understanding of clinical correlation, result interpretation, lab procedures, and participates in continuing education. , Maintains equipment to ensure minimal downtime and is responsible for proper handling of equipment and equipment maintenance. , Manages the function of the Laboratory department and staff. , Monitors vendor contracts to ensure that services are provided in accordance with terms of contract, and proper charges are paid. , PERFORMS LABORATORY PROCEDURES. Prepare specimens and perform routine and/or complex analysis using a variety of instruments in all areas of the laboratory, with speed and efficiency. Regularly demonstrates the ability to coordinate a simultaneous series of tasks accurately, including STAT orders and fluctuations in workload., Responsible for the planning, supervision, coordination and successful execution of all activities related to the department’s
operations., Review all results going out of the laboratory: Critical results verifying appropriate documentation and turn around time in addition to valid result. Daily results paying particular attention to CBC and UA results as the way they are resulted triggers how they are billed. Correct billing if needed. Send-out results both reference lab and pathology. Corrected results and rejected orders. Verify doctors results are to the floor in appropriate time frame. Verify stat results were called in appropriate time frame to appropriate entity. , Review lab billing. Verify all lab results were billed by comparing the LIS billing summary to the hospital billing charge journal. Add modifiers when appropriate for accurate billing the first time through. Verify 24 hour urine measurement charges are added to tests requiring it and that the date of collection and billing date are the same. , Review late charge report and work to reduce problems leading to late charges.
Issue credits on tests ordered but cancelled or not performed and duplicate or in error orders.
