Job Description

LIC is a farmer-owned co-operative that’s been supporting herd improvement in New Zealand’s dairy sector for more than 115 years. We’re focused on providing superior genetics, reliable testing and diagnostics, integrated on-farm software, and great customer service, all designed to help farmers make smarter decisions every day.

As a proud generational co-operative, we’re here for farmers, their families, and rural communities, not just for today, but for the future. And none of it happens without our people. Whether on farm, in the lab, or behind the scenes, every one of us plays a part in helping New Zealand farmers succeed.

About the role:

We are recruiting for a team of seasonal staff to join our Liquid Semen Laboratory at our Newstead site from September until December. Our laboratory plays a vital role in supplying fresh bull semen to farmers across New Zealand for artificial insemination of their cows. This is a fast-paced operational environment that emphasises quality, efficiency, and teamwork.

  • Roles will commence in September and end in December.

  • Days of work and hours may vary based on work availability but will be a minimum of 40 hours per fortnight and up to 40 hours per week in the peak processing period.

  • We operate 7 days a week during peak season and use a 5 on 2 off roster. The 2 days off are consecutive but not necessarily Saturday or Sunday. Early starts may be required.

  • Prior experience is not necessary as full training is provided.

About You:

We are seeking candidates who possess the following attributes:

  • A high level of accuracy and attention to detail.

  • Able to follow standard operating procedures and health and safety guidelines.

  • Enjoy working as part of a large team.

  • Punctual.

  • Flexible and willing to learn a wide range of tasks.

  • Good communication skills.

  • Previous experience in a laboratory or production environment is valuable but not essential.

This is a great opportunity to join an organisation driving the future of dairy in NZ.
