Key functions include promoting department efficiency, ensuring timely laboratory reports, and maintaining regulatory compliance for records organization, retention, and quality control Essential FunctionsConducting POC Glucometer orientation, education, and monitoring, including troubleshooting and obtaining replacement metersPrinting monthly QC reports for review and performing glucometer linearity checks every six monthsPublishing department education topics, documenting staff completion, and revising procedure manualsUpdating and maintaining laboratory policies and procedures electronically, ensuring biannual reviews and signaturesPreparing monthly blood and urine culture contamination rate reports and daily/monthly data for turn-around-time reportsMonitoring reference lab results for EMR scanning and reviewing chain-of-custody drug screen paperworkOrdering and stocking phlebotomy and laboratory supplies and maintaining laboratory employee filesPreparing and updating personnel phone call and disaster call lists and performing EMR audits for transfusion reactions and blood bank issuesAssisting in the interviewing, hiring, and supervision of phlebotomists, and preparing monthly phlebotomy schedulesPerforming data entry for COVID tele tracker on weekends and assisting with COC drug screen collections and specimen processingBeing available 24/7 for phlebotomy staffing issues or questions
