WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT

As a Laboratory Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting laboratory and production activities at our Littlehampton site by ensuring the availability of sterile materials, maintaining high standards of laboratory hygiene, and assisting with development and microbiological processes.

  • Prepare and maintain sterile media, equipment, and laboratory consumables to support Process Development, Quality, and Production activities.
  • Ensure laboratories and equipment are kept clean, organised, and compliant with hygiene and disinfectant protocols to minimise contamination risks.
  • Manage laboratory consumable stock levels, raising purchase requests and coordinating replenishment with operations officer or person responsible for ordering on site.
  • Assist with the maintenance of nematode and bacterial cultures in collaboration with the Process Microbiologist.
  • Support development trials, including set-up, sample analysis and accurate data entry.
  • Coordinate laboratory laundry activities to ensure smooth day-to-day operations.

WHAT YOU OFFER

  • GCSEs (or equivalent) in Science and Mathematics.
  • NVQ in Laboratory Science is advantageous.
  • Previous experience working within a laboratory environment.
  • Understanding of sterility principles and the importance of aseptic handling techniques.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining laboratory quality and safety standards.
