R&D Laboratory Assistant



The Laboratory Assistant supports daily operations within the R&D laboratory by managing incoming materials, maintaining organization and documentation, and assisting in formulation and testing activities. This role reports to the Senior Director of Product Development and collaborates closely with the R&D team to ensure efficient lab operations and high-quality product development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Receive, inspect, and log incoming laboratory materials and supplies

  • Organize, label, and maintain raw material inventory

  • Maintain accurate laboratory records, logs, and documentation

  • Clean and sanitize laboratory glassware (e.g., beakers) and maintain a safe, organized workspace

  • Assist in formulation development to support expansion of the R&D formulation library

  • Support multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment

  • Record experimental data and prepare reports as required

  • Adhere to all safety protocols for handling chemicals and waste disposal

  • Help to monitor inventory levels and order laboratory supplies as needed

  • Provide general laboratory support and perform additional duties as assigned

Requirements:

  • AA degree in Chemistry or related field preferred, or equivalent education and directly related years of experience.

  • 1 or more years of experience in Research and Development laboratory

  • Basic understanding of chemistry and standard laboratory techniques

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment

  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask effectively

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word

  • Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary and standing position for long periods of time

  • Must be able to have lifting, dexterity and repetitive motion

  • Occasionally stoop, bend, and kneel

  • Constantly operates laboratory equipment

  • Ability to regularly lift/move inventory in excess of 20 pounds.

  • Must be able to perform the physical tasks required by the position

About the Compensation:

The base salary range for this role is determined based on several factors. These include but are not limited to job accountabilities; skill sets; experience and training; certifications; work location; competitive market rates and other business needs. At Galderma, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on a unique combination of factors for each role. A reasonable estimate of the hiring range for this role is $55,000-$85,000.
