Primary Duties and Responsibilities

The Department of Neurology is seeking to hire a Laboratory Assistant II to support research focused on stem cell biology, tissue regeneration, and the effects of aging on skeletal muscle maintenance and repair. In this role, you will assist with a variety of laboratory studies using techniques such as cell and molecular biology, flow cytometry, and next-generation sequencing while contributing to the development of animal models for aging research. You will also support daily laboratory operations, including equipment and supply maintenance, and have the opportunity to expand your technical skills in a collaborative research environment.

Hourly range: $27.54-$33.13


Job Qualifications

Required:

  • Knowledge of standard laboratory equipment and supplies.
  • Good communication skills and ability to work well with multiple individuals.
  • Ability to maintain an organized working area.
  • Ability to keep accurate and organized lab records.
  • Ability to work on several projects simultaneously and to switch focus as needed.
  • Knowledge of chemistry to prepare common lab solutions.
  • Knowledge of basic molecular biology techniques.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to learn new laboratory techniques and new lab equipment, as needed.
  • General knowledge of University procedures.

Preferred:

  • B.S. Biology, Microbiology, Genetics, or related field
  • Knowledge of laboratory safety procedures for handling chemical and biohazardous waste.
