The hourly rate pay for this position at Scotts/Hawthorne will generally fall between $29.20 - 29.20 per hour and is paid weekly. Scotts/Hawthorne will consider various factors in determining the actual pay including your skills, qualifications, experience, and geographical location.
We are looking for a Lab Technician who will join our team in Fort Madison, IA.
Test, analyze, monitor, document and communicate results of chemical and physical test of raw materials and liquid finished products. Ensure that test results meets Corporate, customer, consumer and regulatory requirements. Perform analytical testing on all vessels and equipment used in manufacturing to ensure no cross contamination of products.
What you'll do in this role:
Perform chemical and physical test of raw material, finished products and rinse water in accordance with written procedures.
Perform chemical and physical test of all vessels and equipment used in the manufacturing process in accordance with written process and procedures.
Determine the validity of results using established quality assurance techniques.
Keep all laboratory data management records up to date.
Complete special projects and reports as assigned.
Perform daily and routine preventive maintenance on lab instruments.
Assist with maintaining Lab supply inventory.
Provide technical assistance to operations and engineering.
Use good laboratory safety practices and practice good housekeeping.
Provide support for industrial hygiene monitoring and NPDES sampling.
Continue personal training and development.
Assure that all duties are performed safely and in compliance with all environmental, health and safety requirements.
Confirmation that all in-bound raw materials arrive with COA, and and approve for usage in manufacturing.
Provide Certificate of Analysis for outbound MUP.
What you'll need to successful:
Bachelor’s Degree with college chemistry or equivalent analytical laboratory experience.
At least 3 years’ experience in laboratory analytical services/management; analytical chemistry.
Must possess a strong working knowledge of complex laboratory instrumentation (Gas Chromatograph, Liquid Chromatograph, LECO-Nitrogen Analyzer, atomic absorption spectrometry, FTIR, UV/VIS spectroscopy, and ICP).
Must possess a strong working knowledge of various software programs including spreadsheets, databases, and word processing programs (strong knowledge of SAP a plus).
Ability to perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting on above laboratory instruments a plus.
Ability to work independently and in team environment with minimal supervision.
Good written and oral communication skills.
Demonstrated decision making ability.
Good organization skills
Must be able to work rotating shifts, overtime, and weekends as necessary.
