As a Laboratory Technician on this team, you will review consultations from other labs, evaluate paperwork foridentifiersand complete data entry tasks.You will coordinate with leadership, supervisors,Pathologistsand other lab reps to direct workflow and organize daily departmental functioning.This position offers an excellent opportunity to work with some of the best Pathologists in the field within an innovative, constantly evolving healthcare enterprise.

A caregiver in this position worksdays,1130am—800pm.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

  • Receive andaccessionspecimens into the LIS

  • Conduct higher levelaccessioningin the LIS including esoteric testing

  • Conductadvanced tracking investigations

  • Serve as a subspecialty client liaison

  • Be responsible foradvanced problem solving/issue resolution (pendinglog/SERS/block QA)

  • Perform tasks involved withfrozen section processing (frozen section slide creation)

  • Create cell block slides,performclinical histology tissue embeddingandassistinCytology adequacy assessments

  • Preparespecimens for analysis.

  • Perform manual processing (centrifuge,aliquotingand routine maintenance)

  • Run and resolve LIS logs

  • Retrieve, sort,trackand deliver specimens.

  • Performlogistic activities within and outside oflab

  • Use tracking software/devices

  • Complywithsafety,SOP& regulations

  • Maintainappropriate documentation

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

  • Associate’sDegree(preferably inScience)and two years of lab processing experience

  • ORfour years ofLabTechnician or comparable processing experience

  • ORa ctive enrollment in the Cleveland Clinic MLSProgram

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

  • Bachelor’sDegree inBiology,Chemistry,PhysicsorMedicalLaboratoryScience

  • Experience incytoprep and surgical pathology


Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to perform specimen handling techniques and take measurements.
  • Ability to perform work in a stationary position for extended periods.
  • Ability to move throughout the department and hospital system.
  • Handles and transports bio-hazardous materials and potential carcinogens.
  • Ability to differentiate color, hue, saturation, and tones.
  • Ability to live/move up to 50 lbs.
