Under supervision, assists or performs complex chemical analysis of coal, water chemicals, air and other materials. Learns and understands the lab processes in order to perform the job duties with less oversight.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

  • Assist in monitoring boiler water quality and monitor and maintain water treatment facility and its associated equipment.
  • Conduct daily sampling.
  • Assist in performance of analyses per established laboratory procedures.
  • Assist in operation and maintenance of test equipment.
  • Conform to all environmental, health and safety rules in the work place.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR:

  • Two years of college or technical school in chemistry, or equivalent.
  • Equivalent would include 2 years of military experience or some post high school education in addition to 1 to 3 years experience in chemical laboratory work. Associate's/Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Must satisfactorily complete, in such time frames as may be established by the Company, all required training to advance to Lab Technician Grade 2.
  • Must successfully qualify for Lab Technician Grade 2 within two years.
  • Must be available for call-out.
  • Must live within 1 hour commute of the plant.

Other musts:

Physical Demands - walking, standing, climbing stairs and ladders, lifting up to 50 lbs.

Compensation Range:

$35.83 - $35.83

The Physical Demand Level for this job is: M – Medium Work: Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Physical demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.
