Carpenter Co. has an opening for a Lab Technician in the Chemical Blending Department at the Richmond Manufacturing Plant (2400 Richmond Highway). This position works Monday through Thursday, 6:00am to 4:30pm. Lab Technicians are responsible for conducting chemical/physical laboratory tests, analyzing materials, and supporting the department by setting up experiments, and troubleshooting equipment. This position will work alongside with another Lab Technician and regularly communicate with the production manager, office staff, and production employees.

Carpenter Co. employees are committed to working hard to ensure production goals are met while maintaining operations excellence. As the Lab Technician you will be responsible for conducting tests and performing quality checks.

Your additional responsibilities as the Lab Technician will include:

• Perform all quality control RTC test methods for chemical blending production
• Assist Production Manager with productional trails; partner if testing fails
• Test batches of chemicals, including hazardous chemicals
• Maintain preventive maintenance and calibration of all QC equipment
• Keep accurate records regarding testing
• Inspect the quality of packages ready for shipment as well as accompanying paperwork.
• Inspect the quality of the chemical blending jobs performed on a daily basis (i.e. drumming, blending. etc.)
• Perform inventory
• Assist production as needed, operate forklift as needed.
• Maintain a tidy and organized workspace

Skills / Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Some previous laboratory or quality experience preferred
• Basic understanding of standard laboratory procedures and safety practices
• Basic computer knowledge and software programs
• Clear oral and written communication skills
• Strong attention to detail
