Job Description
Marmon Foodservice Technologies, Inc.
As a part of the global industrial organization Marmon Holdings—which is backed by Berkshire Hathaway—you’ll be doing things that matter, leading at every level, and winning a better way. We’re committed to making a positive impact on the world, providing you with diverse learning and working opportunities, and fostering a culture where everyone’s empowered to be their best.
About The Job
Though you may not know us by name, you’ve most likely enjoyed meals and refreshments supported by our industry-leading brand portfolio. For decades, we’ve designed and manufactured foodservice equipment for some of the world’s biggest, most recognized consumer brands.
We are driven to innovate with a clear purpose in mind: revolutionizing the future of foodservice. Guided by our commitment to Doing Things That Matter, Leading at Every Level, and Winning a Better Way, we focus on delivering meaningful impact for our customers, our communities, and each other.
The Lab Technician and Office Manager is the hands-on technical backbone of the Innovation Lab in Atlanta. This role spends most of its time building, running and continuously improving our lab test operation shoulder-to-shoulder with engineers and product testers to validate products in a dispensed beverage ecosystem. A smaller portion of the role supports light office and facility coordination that keeps the broader Atlanta workspace running smoothly.
This is a ground-floor opportunity to help build the lab from the start, including the test processes, workflows, and routines that will support it for years to come.
What You'll Do
Product & Equipment Testing - Plumbing & Installation to Connectivity & Pour (Core Technical Work)
- Execute test plans across the full range of dispensed beverage products using MFT’s ISO 17025 laboratory protocols and test methods.
- Test the physical foundation first: plumbing, water and CO₂ supply lines, syrup connections, and mechanical/electrical installation of dispensers and ice makers - the install-time work that determines whether everything downstream performs correctly.
- Record, analyze, and report test data with rigor and traceability - from raw plumbing/mechanical performance through sensor readings to what actually pours in the cup - partnering with Test Engineers and the Laboratory Manager on interpretation, review, and sign-off.
- Support prototype builds and alpha, beta and pre-production validation as new products (valves, ice makers, sensors, gateways) move through the NPD stage-gate process.
- Prepare beverages, ingredients, consumables and test environments needed for day-to-day product evaluations.
Lab Process Design (Entrepreneurial Core)
- Create and continuously improve standard test protocols, work instructions, workflows, and lab systems with an owner’s mindset, building repeatable processes that help the lab scale beyond day-one needs.
- Help select and set up lab equipment (test rigs, sensors, compressors, calibration tools), thinking ahead to the beverages and technologies we will be testing years from now, not just what’s needed on day one.
Partnering with Engineers & Product Testers (End-to-End Ownership)
- Work daily alongside hardware/test engineers and product testers as a full partner in the testing process - from planning a test, through installation, connectivity validation, and pour-quality data capture, to closing the loop on findings - not just a support function.
- Troubleshoot unexpected test results, equipment issues, and technical unknowns with curiosity, urgency, and a practical problem-solving mindset.
- Maintain equipment inventory, calibration schedules and service records so the lab stays organized, safe, and audit-ready.
Office & Facility Support (~10%)
- Help keep the office and lab space organized, safe, and stocked with day-to-day supplies.
- Coordinate occasionally with vendors, building management and facilities on lab-related equipment service, maintenance, and purchasing needs.
Who You Are
- An entrepreneurial builder who creates structure, improves processes and takes ownership in an evolving technical environment.
- A hands-on learner who builds capability quickly through curiosity, problem-solving and practical experience.
- Technically curious about beverage dispense equipment, plumbing and electrical basics and test instrumentation.
- Detail-oriented and rigorous about documentation, calibration and data integrity.
- A natural collaborator who works well side-by-side with engineers, product managers and fellow testers.
- Comfortable with ambiguity and self-directed in a fast-paced, still-being-built environment.
Skills/Experience We're Looking For
- Experience working with lab test equipment, sensors, data acquisition systems, compressors, or test fixtures.
- Familiarity with test protocols and quality systems (e.g., ISO 17025) is a plus - not required if you’re ready to learn on the job.
- Comfort with beverage dispense, plumbing, or mechanical/electrical systems; experience setting up dispensers or ice makers, working with CO₂/water/syrup lines, or basic electrical work is highly valued.
- Exposure to, or willingness to learn, connected-device basics
- Ability to read test data, spot anomalies, and document results clearly and accurately - across mechanical, sensing, and connectivity layers.
- Basic proficiency with Microsoft 365 (Teams, Outlook, Word, Excel) for reporting and coordination.
- Light office/facility coordination skills (ordering supplies, coordinating vendors) - a smaller part of the role, but still valued.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent hands-on technical/trade experience (engineering technology, mechanical/electrical trades, or similar)
- 2+ years of experience in a lab, test engineering, field service, or equipment-technician role.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently, organize priorities and follow through in an evolving technical environment.
- Willingness to learn new equipment, test methods, and beverage-specific technical requirements quickly.
Preferred Experience
- Experience with beverage foodservice equipment.
- Experience working within product development, engineering or R&D lab environments.
- Experience helping build, improve, or scale lab processes, test facilities or technical workspaces.
Benefits
- We support your well-being with comprehensive and easy-to-use benefits that you will be eligible to enroll in on your first day of employment. Here are some of the highlights:
- Medical, Dental, Vision, and Prescription Drug insurance plans.
- Access to a Health Advocate who is an expert in Marmon’s health plan and can help you select the best health benefits for you and your family.
- Tax-advantaged spending accounts for health and dependent care expenses.
- Wellness programs and resources, including Telehealth, Mental Health, Fitness, and Family Planning.
- Generous paid time off for personal use, holidays, and parental leave.
- Company-sponsored life insurance.
- 401(k) with fully vested company match; Marmon may also make an additional annual discretionary contribution to your account, whether or not you contribute on your own.
- Financial and retirement advising.
