Lab Technician
Nature of Position: To perform the routine and special analyses on laboratory samples.
Duties & Responsibilities:
1. Perform established tests on laboratory samples
2. Enter test data into SAP, Aveva, Google log sheets as well as other computer programs.
3. Pick up samples at designated drop points and utilize chain of custody forms.
4. Maintain sample retention storage.
5. Handle Certificates of Analysis by fax, e-mail, or with a carrier.
6. Calibrate and standardize laboratory test equipment by procedure each shift as dictated by the standardization schedule
7. Maintain a clean, orderly work area throughout the shift.
8. Perform work area inspections including mobile equipment pre-shift checks.
9. Perform other special projects and duties as assigned.
Measurements Performed/Tools & Gauges:
1. Particle size analysis / Micromeritics Particle Size Analyzers, Saturn Analyzers, Color Analysis / Hunter Colorimeter & Other equipment as required
Working Conditions: Job includes both inside and outside duties in varying weather conditions. Activities include considerable walking, climbing ladders, and standing for long periods of time in a fast paced environment with multiple tasks in process at the same time.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education: High school diploma (or GED) required.
Preference: College level chemistry and algebra, prior laboratory experience, computer training. Additional consideration will be given to the grades received for chemistry and algebra credits. (Transcript required). Desire for advancement and a willingness to learn more about the processes, ISO efforts and customer’s needs and requirements is a plus.
Work & Behavioral Skills Requirements:
- Basic Working knowledge of mathematics and science.
- Ability to perform data entry and is able to utilize computers.
- Ability to communicate with people at all levels (Peers, Direct Supervisor, and Managers). - Can clearly articulate own strengths and areas of development.
- Demonstrates the ability to drive their own development.
- Ability to work well with other employees in a fast paced, dynamic environment in a safe manner at all times exhibiting professionalism.
- Willingness to help cover additional shifts other than the regular scheduled shift due to short notice coworker family emergencies and vacation coverage.
Prior Experience: Preference given to those with specific job experience in Laboratory setting.
