Are you a detail-driven lab professional who finds purpose in precision and compliance? Home of the Innocents is seeking a Lab Manager to oversee daily operations of our moderately complex laboratory at the Kosair for Kids Complex Care Center (KCC), our pediatric skilled nursing facility. In this essential role, you’ll ensure our laboratory services meet the highest clinical and regulatory standards, directly supporting the health and safety of medically complex children and young adults.

A Day in the Life
The Lab Manager oversees daily laboratory operations, specimen collection, equipment maintenance, and regulatory compliance under the direction of the Director of Support Services. You’ll collaborate with the Medical Director, external laboratory consultant, and the interdisciplinary team, including Nursing and Respiratory Therapy, to ensure efficient, accurate, and compliant laboratory services that promote the highest practicable quality of life for our residents.
Schedule: Full-time, non-exempt, on-site. Daytime hours are flexible (can be discussed during the phone interview). May include occasional evening, weekend, or holiday hours to support departmental and emergent needs. Reliable transportation required.

How This Position Contributes to Our Mission
• Plan, develop, and manage daily laboratory operations, equipment, and maintenance
• Oversee and perform specimen collection and processing within scope of practice, ensuring accuracy and regulatory compliance
• Maintain CLIA certification and ensure continual compliance with federal, state, and local laboratory regulations
• Coordinate with Nursing and Respiratory Therapy to support efficient lab operations, including troubleshooting equipment and processing specimens
• Train and evaluate team members on laboratory procedures to ensure competency within scope of practice
• Manage the laboratory budget in collaboration with the Director of Support Services

Skills and Qualifications
Required:
• High School Diploma or equivalent; must meet CLIA moderate-complexity testing personnel requirements (under 42 CFR §493.1423)
• Minimum one (1) year of experience in a clinical lab, point-of-care testing, specimen collection/processing, nursing, respiratory therapy, or related clinical setting
• Ability to perform specimen collection, QC, instrument operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and result reporting per lab procedures
• Understanding of CLIA and long-term care regulatory standards (or ability to learn and demonstrate during orientation)
• Current CPR/BLS certification (provided if needed)
Note: Approved training and competency assessment for the Abbott i-STAT and Sysmex XN-430 required prior to independent patient testing.
Preferred:
• Experience with CLIA certification processes
• Phlebotomist Certification
