Responsible for overseeing all aspects of laboratory operations, ensuring that testing activities align with organizational goals and regulatory requirements. Manages personnel, budgets, schedules, and equipment resources while driving strategic improvements in testing capabilities. Serves as the primary liaison between the lab and cross‑functional teams—including engineering, quality assurance, and external certification bodies—while fostering a culture of safety, innovation, and technical excellence to deliver accurate, timely, and actionable insights that support product development and broader business objectives.
Major Tasks, Responsibilities and Key Accountabilities
Manages lab staff, schedules, and workload priorities.
Serves as primary liaison with engineering, quality, and external testing agencies.
Ensures adherence to safety, regulatory, and quality standards.
Oversees budget, equipment procurement, and maintenance.
Drives strategic improvements in testing capabilities and lab processes.
Troubleshoots test methods, reviewing results and reporting.
Nature and Scope
Solutions require analysis and investigation.
Achieves planned results by decisions and actions based on professional methods, business principles, and practical experience.
Manages a group or team of professional individual contributors and/or indirectly supervises support staff.
Work Environment
Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.
Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds in a physical environment. Ability to stand for periods of time up to and exceeding 60 minutes. Ability to make repetitive movements, such as using a 10-key or calculator, bending, or squatting.
Typically requires overnight travel less than 5% of the time.
Education and Experience
Typically requires BS/BA in a related discipline. Generally 7+ years of experience in a related field. May require certification. Advanced degree may offset less experience in some disciplines.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field.
7+ years of lab experience with leadership responsibilities.
2+ years of management experience.
Certification in quality systems (ISO 17025) and experience with continuous improvement methodologies (Six Sigma, Lean).
Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.

$91,300.00-$146,100.00 Annual
