Lab Lead Support Services – St. Francis Downtown
The Lab Lead functions as the department lead and coordinates the daily operations of the lab. They provide leadership and technical expertise to the lab assistants and couriers. In addition, working as the Lab Lead you will ensure that all testing results are reported within the required time frame, assist with safety training, resolves personnel issues, and provide input and documentation for performance reviews. Responsibilities include daily scheduling, data collection, inventory, and troubleshooting sample and customer issues.
Essential Functions:
• Coordinates workflow related to all aspects of laboratory support services to include processing, phlebotomy, specimen transport, supply distribution, patient registration, and customer service.
• Performs all duties of phlebotomists and processors as needed.
• Monitors Lab Information System (LIS) reports and logs for compliance to assure pre-analytical processes are of highest quality.
• Assists leadership with department needs.
• Manages quality assurance documentation of personnel as needed.
• Provides oversight for scheduling and timekeeping.
• Implements policies and procedures as relates to specific area.
• Oversees training and orientation of personnel.
• Maintains standards of accreditation for The Joint Commission (TJC) and The College of American Pathologists (CAP) for specific area.
