Lab Engineer for Robot AI and 6G System Development and Integration > Leased Labor (18-month) (m/f/d)

Your mission

• Implement proofs of concept based on available 6G prototypes for onsite and remote demonstrations, including integration with AI- and robotics-enabled applications.

• Design, develop, and maintain high-performance applications using Python, C++, Matlab and C# across multiple platforms.

• Test, benchmark, and evaluate novel AI models for robot perception, decision-making, and control in laboratory and field environments.

• Implement ROS2-based robot control and perception functions, connected to real robots and digital-twin environments.

• Develop use cases and execute lab and field trials (indoor and outdoor) in collaboration with partners as part of the prototyping team.

• Manage, administer, and continuously improve Windows- and Linux-based IT systems supporting the 6G lab, ensuring reliability, availability, and security.

• Develop graphical user interfaces, applications, and imaging solutions for demonstration and experimentation purposes.

• Collaborate closely with cross-functional internal teams and external partners from industry and academia.

• Support mechanical assembly, integration, and basic processing of robotic platforms and wireless experimental systems.

Your areas of expertise

• Bachelor or Master’s degree in electrical engineering, informatics, telecommunications, or a related field.

• Experience with LLMs and Vision–Language–Action (VLA) models, including training, fine-tuning, and evaluation. Familiarity with agent frameworks, A2A, and MCP-based system integration.

• Ability to deploy models in production with focus on latency, throughput, and cost optimization, using techniques such as quantization, distillation, batching, and hardware-aware acceleration.

• Solid grounding in classical robotics, including kinematics, control, state estimation, motion planning, and integration of learning-based components on real robotic systems.

• Background or interest in wireless communications, radar signal processing, or 3GPP standards is considered a plus.

• Experiences in programming language (Python, Java, C/C++, MATLAB, C#, bash, scripting…): Strong coding skills, with experience building scalable, efficient applications.

• In-depth experience managing and troubleshooting both Linux (Ubuntu, CentOS) and Windows Servers.

• Solid understanding of Git, branching strategies, and collaborative workflows.

• Experience with management of local area networks (LAN), servers, and other IT infrastructure.

• Good understanding of AI, machine learning, and familiarity with related tools for training and inference is a plus.

• Business proficiency in written and spoken English.

• Upper-Intermediate level in German (B2 or above).
