About this role:
We are seeking a Lab Engineer to join our Compression and Motors Engineering team at our R&D center located in Syracuse, New York.
Key Responsibilities:
Responsibilities include maintenance, calibration, trouble shooting and repair, and design upgrades of compressor calorimeter and reliability test stands ranging in capacity from 1 to 1500 Tons.
Ability to perform hands on work with mechanical and electrical systems including knowledge of best practices for piping systems to minimize restrictions and pressure drop as well as power and control system wiring per NEC and UL code compliance. Experience with or ability to perform computer support work for lab data acquisition systems.
Duties include Lab Environment Health & Safety (EH&S) lead and Lab Process Standard Work documentation, maintenance and development lead.
Required Qualifications:
- Associates Degree
- 5+ years experience with HVAC/R systems
- 5+ years experience of working knowledge of heat transfer, fluid and thermodynamics.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with programming of National Instruments-LabVIEW data acquisition systems and knowledge of Allen-Bradley Programable Logic Controllers.
- Experience with single phase and three phase electrical power systems, VFDs, PLCs, PID Controls, transducers, flow meters, lab instrumentation and electrical test equipment including Yokogawa Power Analyzers.
- Proficient PC skills including Microsoft office programs and ability to create schematics and diagrams using Visio or similar software.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, organizational, interpersonal, and analytical skills are required.
- A portion of time will be spent working with and supporting the Engineering and Laboratory staff.
- In addition to the responsibilities and requirements listed above, the person should be self-motivated and capable of working independently.
- The ability to thrive in a fast-paced changing environment is essential to succeed in this position.
