VISA 3P10Advanced Video Art

Two positions Section 1 and 2

Creative, technical, and critical skills for video art production, post-productionand critical evaluation. Through creative projects, critiques, screenings, readings, lectures and discussions, students will be introduced to a variety of forms and approaches to video art, emphasizing creating video art and its contextualization in contemporary art discourses.

Lectures, studio work, lab,4hours per week.

Note: Lab Demonstrator contract for this course will be 48 hours.

Compensation

Teaching Assistant, Course Coordinator and Lab Demonstrator positions are paid according to the qualifications that the employee holds.

Employees who do NOT hold a 4-year honours degree or a 3-year pass degree will be paid the undergraduate rate - $23.30 per hour. (Rate effective September 1, 2026)

Employees who hold a 4-year honours degree or a 3-year pass degree will be paid the graduate rate - $36.67 per hour. (Rate effective September 1, 2026)

In cases where additional duties are required as part of a Teaching Assistant’s duties, these hours shall be compensated at the appropriate Teaching Assistant rate.

Duties

The duties and responsibilities of the Lab Demonstrator shall bein accordance withArticle 22 of the CUPE Local 4207, Unit 1, CollectiveAgreement. These are made up of scheduled contact time with students and non-classroom time (includingpreparing the lab; preparing and presentingan introduction to the lab; overseeing the lab for safety matters; teaching andassistingstudents during the lab; cleaning up after the lab;and, in some cases, grading tests and exams).

Qualifications

1.Relevant BA or equivalent isrequired

2. Extensive experience in video production equipment: 4K cameras, microphones, lighting equipment, grip equipment isrequired

3. In-depth knowledge of software: Adobe Premiere; Davinci, MPEGStreamclip; Audacity; iMovie isrequired

4. Experience in all aspects of video art production and postproduction (single channel, multiplechanneland / or installation) isrequired

5. In-depth knowledge of animation techniquesrequired

6. The successful applicant musthave effective communication skills including the ability to explain subject material to students, bepunctual in attendingclasses, andbe able to meetappropriatedeadlines

7. Must be available to attend allscheduled class hours
