Job Description

The Lab Chemist III is responsible for performing advanced qualitative and quantitative chemical analyses in a laboratory setting to support quality control, compliance, and operational goals. This role works with a variety of chemical substances, instruments, and testing methods while maintaining strict adherence to all Health & Safety policies and procedures. This position also plays a key role in training and mentoring entry-level laboratory staff.

Pay: $25 - $32 per hour

Monday - Friday

This position is Non-exempt, so it would be a full-time hourly role with potential for overtime hours/pay. 40 hours per week with optional overtime as desired.

Responsibilities

  • Perform advanced chemical analysis of samples in accordance with company standards and regulatory requirements
  • Complete all associated documentation (calibration logs, run logs, reports) accurately and in a timely manner
  • Calibrate, maintain, and operate laboratory equipment in compliance with the chemical hygiene plan
  • Ensure proper handling and disposal of waste generated during laboratory processes
  • Review and maintain knowledge of laboratory SOPs and achieve satisfactory scores on required assessments
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized laboratory environment; communicate inventory and supply needs
  • Train and mentor new or junior laboratory personnel
  • Follow all Health & Safety policies, procedures, and compliance standards
  • Perform additional duties as assigned based on business needs

Qualifications

Education & Experience:

  • Minimum: 2 years of college or specialized training in Chemistry or a related field
  • Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or related discipline
  • Experience: 5–7 years in a laboratory setting
  • Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered

Certifications (Preferred):

  • 24- or 40-hour OSHA training with annual updates
  • DOT training

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Strong understanding of chemistry, math, and laboratory testing methods
  • Solid problem-solving and organizational skills
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Computer proficiency and data entry skills
  • Experience operating laboratory equipment and instrumentation
