Clean Harbors in Ryley, AB is looking for a Lab Chemist. The Lab Chemist is responsible for conducting qualitative and quantitative chemical analyses or experiments in our lab for quality control and landfill acceptance criteria. This role involves working with various chemical substances, instruments, and techniques to ensure compliance and adhere to all Health & Safety policies and procedures.

• Performs basic analysis of samples, following all health & safety, operational and compliance, standards.
• Completes all paperwork (digital & physical) and communication that is associated with the analyses, in a prompt, clear and accurate manner. (ex., calibration logs, run logs, etc.).
• Calibrates, maintains and operates various types of analytical equipment in compliance with the chemical hygiene plan.
• Responsible for proper management of the waste generated from the chemical processes of analysis.
• Reviews all applicable laboratory standard operating procedures (SOPs), annually, and achieves a satisfactory score on SOP quizzes.
• Responsibility for maintaining a clean and organized work environment while communicating inventory needs.

• Preferred: Bachelor's Degree-Chemistry, diploma or equivalent
• Experience: 0 to 3 years
• Alternative: Alternative combinations of education and experience may be accepted in lieu of degree.
• Strong problem-solving skills
• Good organizational skills, decisiveness and initiative.
• Problem solving skills.
• Ability to work in a team environment.
• Knowledge of OSHA regulations
• Computer skills.
• Solid understanding of math, chemistry and chemical testing.
• Experience in a laboratory setting.
