Clean Harbors located in Cleveland, OH is looking to add a Lab Chemist to our team. Our Lab Chemist is responsible for sample preparation, the analysis of samples to determine their chemical and physical properties. This position will support our chemical disposal operation in the Cleveland facility.

Shift: Day shift for training; then will switch to 2nd shift 3:30pm-12am Mon-Fri. OT and Saturdays as needed

Pay rate: $23/HR+ $1.75 for the shift differential once on 2nd shift.

• Responsible for maintaining a safe working environment that is in compliance with all applicable OSHA regulations as well as all applicable company Health and Safety and Compliance protocols;
• Performs analysis of samples following prescribed procedures, with the ability to solve minor problems;
• Calibrates and utilizes instrumentation;
• Maintenance of equipment, suggests solutions to problems;
• Completes all paperwork associated with the analyses in a neat and timely fashion;
• Ensures that all work meets applicable QA/QC guidelines;
• Responsibility for supply management in their area of responsibility, including proper housekeeping and best management practices;
• Responsible for proper management of waste generated as a result of analytical procedures.
• Bachelor’s degree in chemistry or physical science is required;
• 1-5 years’ experience in hands-on laboratory experience with wet chemistry testing methods;
• Ability to set up and conduct chemical experiments/tests such as chromatography, spectroscopy, and titrations preferred;
• Superior organizational skills coupled with a strong attention to detail;
• Effective communication skills in writing and in verbal, will be interacting with people of various education and technical backgrounds;
• Ability to work in a team environment.
