
This is a casual/per diem, non-benefited position with varied shifts (start times vary from 6:30am, 11am and 3pm), including weekends. Training will be 3-5 days a week for the first few months. This position will not be working in a phlebotomy area and will not require the CPT or BLS.

The Lab Assistant will be joining our Microbiology team at our Scripps Medical Laboratory in Sorrento Mesa. Our Scripps Medical Laboratory is our system's core lab, servicing all sites and processing over 2.6 million tests annually. The Lab Assistant will be able to work both independently and collaboratively, using best judgment in testing samples and problem solving. This role is ideal for someone looking to pursue a career in the clinical lab, as you will be exposed to a variety of cases in a hands-on, high-pace environment, assisting with processing and plating of micro specimens.
The Lab Assistant will assist the Clinical Lab Scientist in the preanalytical and analytical testing of samples. Through this partnership, the Lab Assistant will proactively contribute to achieve team goals towards cost-effective, high quality patient care services. The Lab Assistant is instrumental in impacting the workflow processes to identify areas of improvement.
