Under direction of the Laboratory Manager, technical direction of the Laboratory Director, Pathologist, and the Clinical Laboratory Technician/Medical Laboratory Technician. The Clinical Lab Assistant II is independently responsible for obtaining & registering patient samples, testing patient samples on moderately complex testing and delivering results to providers. Such training will have proper specimen collection, including patient preparation, applicable labeling, handling, preservation or fixation, processing or preparation, transportation and storage of specimens. Skills obtained will be but on limited to all standard lab procedures, test method and for proper instrument use, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting and calibration procedures related to each test performed, knowledge of reagent stability and storage, Implementation of quality control policies and procedures, awareness of the factors that influence test result, and skills required to assess and verify the validity of patient test results through the evaluation of quality control samples vales prior to reporting patient test results. He/she may assist in instructing other personnel as assigned. He/she is able to correlate and interpret data based on knowledge of physiological conditions affecting test results, recognize problems, identify the cause, and resolve solutions to problems.
