Primary Focus
The primary purpose of the Lab Assistant is to conduct lab functions as directed by the Lab Manager.
Essential Functions Include, But Are Not Limited To
* Specimen collection and processing by phlebotomy, including reference laboratory and data entry.
* Run lab test under supervision of Medical Technologist (not required to be on site).
* Process data: report receiving, routing, and filing.
* Billing sheet and lab report form preparation.
* Daily stocking of blood drawing trays.
* Answers Laboratory phone.
* Follows district policies to protect themself from blood borne pathogens: i.e. wearing gloves and glasses. Standard precautions
are strictly followed.
* Other tasks as assigned by the Lab Manager.
Schedule
Lab Assistant can be a supplemental, part time or full-time position. Schedules are not set and may vary month to month.
Working Conditions: Work with potentially infectious blood/body fluid and hazardous material in a controlled protective setting.
Requirements
Required Education and Certification
* Phlebotomy Certification
* High school graduate
* Current CPR training and certification
