FUNCTION:

The Lab Assistant is a MCL position in which a new team member trains and learns critical MCL skills. Note: Upon successful completion of the Lab Assistant OJT and North Berwick Career Pathways Sheet, the Lab Assistant is eligible to be promoted directly to the S4 B Lab Technician role.

This Lab Technician position in the P&W North Berwick Materials Control Lab will be fully dedicated to Material Process Control (MPC). The new Hire will train directly with senior MCL Technician’s and Supervision for no less than 1 year before independently approving calibration reports.

What You Will Do

Manage calibration and preventative maintenance (PM) of delicate instrumentation used in a Quality Laboratory setting

Ensure appropriate documentation and traceability of calibration and testing results

Manage routine thermal processing equipment audits/surveys

Assist senior technicians with methods, techniques, standards, and use of calibration equipment

Maintain and answer for calibration of thermal equipment during customer and internal audits

Review specifications and requirements. Make thoughtful decisions to best meet requirements imposed

Use computer equipment and learn new programs to best facilitate data input, review, reporting, and storage

Maintain active dialogue with other groups, such as Engineering, Quality, Purchasing, Facilities, and Production

Effectively collaborate with others to ensure timely completion of testing to support production goals

Foster positive communication and attitude with coworkers and customers

Perform other duties as assigned by supervision to meet business needs

Qualifications You Must Have

High School or General Equivalency Diploma

3+ years of experience working with thermal manufacturing processes and equipment or a completed degree/certificate from a post-secondary or vocational school in a related field with 1+ years related experience

Excellent computer and documentation skills

Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written

Experience using SAP, Microsoft Excel, and Documentum software

Qualifications We Prefer

5+ years of experience working with thermal equipment in a manufacturing environment

Experience with delicate equipment, electronic devices, and digital controllers

Familiarity with thermal calibration and processing equipment (such as ovens, furnaces, pyrometers, thermocouples, temp. sensors, etc.)

Flexibility around shifts, for training and to maintain workflow, to include overtime

What You Will Do

The NDT Processor position serves as an entry level role in which critical NDT technical and processing skills will be learned and developed.

This is a 3rd shift position working Sunday through Thursday, 11:30pm-7:00am, S2 level

Key Responsibilities:

Clean and process a variety of parts through various baths and solutions to prepare them for inspection (part sizes vary and usage of hoists and rigging may be required)

Bending, reaching, pulling, pushing, lifting and transport of product and or equipment weighing up to 25lbs solo or 50lbs team lift

Review work instructions, part travelers, and blueprints

Collaborate with working/technical leaders to resolve processing issues

Continuously learn and develop NDT processing and inspection skills

Any additional tasks within the scope and skill level of this role in support of department objectives

Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English

Working temporary alternative shifts as necessary to meet training and skill development objectives, Initial training may take place on 1st shift

NOTE: The expectation of this job role is to complete NDT level 1 training within 4-12 months. Failure to do so may prevent movement to the NDT inspector role.

High School or GED

Shift Flexibility (on temporary basis)

Qualifications We Prefer

Quality inspection and/or NDT inspection experience

Aerospace manufacturing experience

Technical degree in Science, Mathematics, or Engineering

Radiology experience
