PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITES

  • The Laboratory Apprentice Program is a structured 6-month development program designed to identify, train and develop future laboratory talents for potential employment opportunities within SGS laboratories. Apprentices will gain hands-on exposure to laboratory operations, quality systems, testing activities, safety practices and technical competencies across Microbiology, Chemistry and Technical disciplines.

  • Successful apprentices demonstrating strong performance, technical aptitude and positive work attitude may be considered for future positions such as Microbiology Laboratory Technician, Chemical Laboratory Technician, Chemist, Microbiologist, Technical Analyst, Quality Assurance Executive or Customer Care Executive

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITES

  • Support routine laboratory testing activities under supervision.
  • Learn and apply laboratory test methods, work instructions and standard operating procedures.
  • Perform basic laboratory tasks according to training progression and competency assessment.
  • Maintain accurate laboratory records and documentation.
  • Ensure confidentiality of customer information and laboratory data.
  • Follow Good Laboratory Practice, Good Housekeeping and laboratory safety requirements.
  • Assist in cleaning, maintenance and verification of laboratory equipment under supervision.
  • Use personal protective equipment appropriately and comply with SGS HSE requirements at all times.
  • Complete assigned training modules, competency assessments, learning logs and improvement project presentation.
  • Perform any other responsibilities as assigned by the reporting manager, Section Head or Senior Management.
  • At all times, adopt a safe behavior by exercising due regards for the health and safety of SGS employees and clients, in line with SGS Policies and procedures.
  • At all times, comply with SGS Code of Integrity and Professional Conduct.
  • Perform any other responsibilities as assigned by his/her superior.

Qualifications

PROFILE

  • Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in science background preferable.
  • Fresh graduates are encouraged to apply.
  • Internship or laboratory exposure is an added advantage.
  • No prior working experience required; training will be provided.
