Job Description

The Senior Manager - Transmission Testing will be a key driver in maintaining the quality and performance standards of Daimler India's Transmission department. This role requires a deep understanding of transmission components and the ability to develop and execute test programs. The successful candidate will collaborate with a global team of engineers, leveraging their expertise to ensure the reliability and performance of transmission systems. They will also play a crucial role in driving continuous improvement initiatives, staying updated with industry best practices, and ensuring the company remains at the forefront of transmission technology.
  • Develop and execute comprehensive test programs for transmission aggregates, subsystems, and components, ensuring adherence to industry standards and company protocols.
  • Plan and conduct validation activities for critical transmission components, including gears, bearings, shifting systems, and synchronizers, to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
  • Perform bench tests to evaluate the performance, durability, and reliability of transmissions, analyzing test data using advanced tools like DIAdem and MATLAB.
  • Conduct root cause investigations and damage analysis on transmission parts, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions.
  • Apply measurement technology and statistical tools to estimate the reliability of transmission components, ensuring they meet or exceed industry benchmarks.
  • Collaborate with international engineering teams and test bench suppliers to maintain and optimize test benches, ensuring they are properly calibrated and maintained.
  • Stay updated with the latest measurement equipment and methods, applying this knowledge to test bench setup and instrumentation.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives based on test results and industry best practices, identifying opportunities for process optimization and efficiency gains.
  • Provide effective communication and strong presentation skills to convey complex technical aspects to stakeholders and the leadership team in a clear and concise manner.
  • Steer cross-functional teams and projects, ensuring timely execution, risk management, and the development of mitigation plans to address potential challenges.
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field, with a strong focus on transmission systems and testing.
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in transmission testing, development, or a similar role, demonstrating a track record of success in ensuring the reliability and performance of transmission components.
  • In-depth knowledge of transmission components, their functions, and the ability to develop and execute comprehensive test programs.
  • Proficiency in using test data analysis tools such as Python, DIAdem and MATLAB, with the ability to interpret and present data effectively.
