Data Center Installation Technician (Level 1)

Location: Abernathy, TX (On-Site)

Schedule: Multiple shifts available

About the Role

We are seeking entry-level Data Center Installation Technicians to support large-scale data center deployment projects. This hands-on role is responsible for rack builds, equipment installation, structured cabling, power connections, and cooling infrastructure support within a fast-paced data center environment.

Available Shifts

  • 1st Shift: 7:00 AM 4:00 PM
  • 2nd Shift: 3:00 PM 12:00 AM
  • 3rd Shift: 11:00 PM 8:00 AM

Key Responsibilities

  • Assemble and prepare racks, including rail kits, PDUs, cable management, and labeling.
  • Rack and stack server, storage, and networking equipment according to deployment specifications.
  • Perform structured cabling installations, including copper and fiber cabling.
  • Route, dress, secure, and label cables following established standards.
  • Connect power cabling and support redundant power configurations.
  • Assist with airflow and cooling infrastructure installation, including:
  • Blanking panels and airflow management components
  • Cable routing for airflow optimization
  • Direct-to-chip (D2C) liquid cooling connections under supervision
  • Follow installation documentation, diagrams, and Method of Procedures (MOPs).
  • Perform basic quality inspections and report issues or discrepancies.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.

Required Qualifications

  • Basic understanding of data center environments and IT hardware.
  • Familiarity with structured cabling practices (copper and/or fiber).
  • Knowledge of rack infrastructure, including rails, PDUs, and cable management systems.
  • Ability to read and follow technical documentation and standard operating procedures.
  • Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn.
  • Ability to perform physical work, including:
  • Lifting equipment
  • Working in confined rack spaces
  • Standing for extended periods
  • Understanding of workplace safety practices in a technical environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with rack and stack activities.
  • Familiarity with Cat6 cabling installations.
  • Exposure to airflow management concepts.
  • Experience or awareness of data center cooling technologies, including DX or direct-to-chip liquid cooling environments.

Health & Safety Requirements

  • Follow all site safety policies and procedures.
  • Properly use required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Adhere to safe material handling and lifting practices.
  • Follow electrical safety guidelines when working around powered equipment.
  • Maintain clean work areas to reduce hazards.
  • Report safety concerns, incidents, or near misses immediately.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate is mechanically inclined, detail-oriented, eager to learn, and interested in building a career in data center infrastructure. Previous data center experience is helpful but not required, making this a strong opportunity for candidates with cabling, installation, hardware deployment, telecommunications, low-voltage, or technical support backgrounds.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $38.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
