Description

The Bowling Green Veterans Center is a 60-bed long-term care that is committed to serving Kentucky’s Veterans
by fostering independence, preserving dignity, and providing compassionate care.

We are currently seeking a self-motivated, energetic individual for the position of KY Veterans Ctr.
Safety/Security Officer for First, Second, and Third shifts. The ideal candidate will work within a team-
centered environment to meet our commitment to serving Kentucky’s Veterans.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provides safety and security duties for our facility, buildings and grounds, provides transportation of residents to required appointments, and protects against trespass, theft, fire and other hazards.
  • Perform patrol duties of buildings and grounds.
  • Maintains daily logs of people entering and leaving buildings after designated times.
  • Screens employees and visitors at entry.
  • Performs duties as main switchboard operator and receptionist when regular operator is absent.
  • Ensure facility vehicles are property maintained, serviced and cleaned.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Strong organizational skills are necessary as well as the ability to multi-task

Minimum Requirements
EDUCATION:
High school graduate.

EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS:
Must have two years of military, security guard/officer, safety, corrections, or law enforcement experience.

Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE:
NONE

Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION:
Additional experience in one of the above areas will substitute for the required education on a year-for- year basis.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (AGE, LICENSURE, REGULATION, ETC.):
Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license to qualify for employment in this job classification. Must maintain any required licensure(s), certification(s), or other credentials for the length of employment in this job classification. Employing agency is responsible for ensuring employee possesses and maintains required licensure(s), certification(s) or other credentials.

Working Conditions

Incumbents working in this job title must be able to work extended hours and perform work outdoors during inclement weather. Must be able to respond to emergencies 24/7.

Probationary Period

This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.
