General Summary:
Qualcomm IT seeks a Kubernetes generalist who canassistwith the construction, deployment, management, automation, and troubleshooting of high performance bare-metal on-prem and cloud-based multi-tenant Kubernetes clusters using RancherKubernetes distributions in use are RKE2 (on-prem) and GKE, EKS, AKS (cloud)Day to day tasks also include monitoring performance and availability of all Kubernetes clusters (includinghigh performanceGPU acceleration), as well as developing and deploying platform automation scripts and softwareCandidates will join a mature and experienced team of Kubernetes platform administrators with a wide range of skill levelsCandidates will have many opportunities for growth through project work and coaching from mentorsExamples of possible project work include implementation of self-healing system automation; testing, validation, and deployment of new Kubernetes versions; transformation of existing platform automation to make use of new Kubernetes functionality; testing and integration of new high performance bare-metal compute platforms; implementation and troubleshooting of novel Kubernetes multi-tenancy patterns such asvcluster; migration of Gatekeeper OPA policies to Validating Admission Policy.
Baseline requirements:
• Comfortable using anddeveloping onLinux as a primary OS, especially Ubuntu.
• 2+ years Kubernetes administration experience.
○ AdvancedproficiencyinKustomizeor Helm (preferably both).
○ Intermediate knowledge of Kubernetes networking internals (notably Cilium).
○ Direct experience deploying andmaintainingenterprise Kubernetes clusters.
• AdvancedproficiencywithDocker+ContainerDand Linux container internals.
• Advancedproficiencywith git andGithub
• Knowledge of Kubernetes control plane architecture and troubleshooting.
• Intermediateproficiencywith Python or Go.
• Intermediateproficiencywith bash scripting.
• Comfortable with Agile project management in JIRA.
Beneficialadditionalexperience:
• Recent CKAD and CKA certificationsCKS certification is a plus.
• Bare-metal Kubernetes management with Rancher, RKE2, and Cilium.
• Cloud Kubernetes management (GKE, EKS and AKS).
• Datadog log and metrics collection; dashboarding.
• Open Policy Agent (OPA) and Gatekeeper OPA.
• Kubernetes Ingress/Gateway API implementations.
• Deployment and management ofPortworxandMetalLB
• Creating CI/CD workflows usingGithubActions.
• Experience with GPU-accelerated workloads in Kubernetes.
Minimum Qualifications:
• 3+ years of IT-related work experience with a Bachelor's degree.
OR
5+ years of IT-related work experience without a Bachelor’s degree.
