Job Description

A warm and loving private family in New York City is seeking an exceptional, educated career nanny to care for their 13-month-old child on a one-week-on, one-week-off rotational schedule alongside another ROTA nanny.

This is a long-term opportunity for a caregiver who wants to grow with the family and as the child and family evolve. BAHS placed an exceptional newborn care specialist with the family and the child is reliably sleeping through the night. A private bedroom and bathroom will be provided for the nanny for overnight stays. The family prefers a local, live-out candidate but is open to a regular live-in arrangement for the right person.

The family is looking for an educated, experienced career nanny who brings warmth, sound judgment, and a thoughtful approach to childcare. The ideal candidate is intelligent, engaging, discreet, and professional, with a calm, positive presence. They should have a strong understanding of child development, the confidence to work independently and as a team with the parents and other ROTA nanny. Above all, the family is seeking someone highly capable and polished, but also warm, grounded, and easy to have in the home.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities:

  • Provide attentive, developmentally appropriate care for the child, including daytime care and occasional overnight support as needed.
  • Plan, prepare, and serve age-appropriate meals (and bottle feedings), with attention to nutrition, quality, safety, and the child's evolving needs.
  • Establish, maintain, and thoughtfully adjust age-appropriate routines and schedules in partnership with the parents.
  • Plan and lead developmentally purposeful play, activities, and learning experiences aligned with the child’s developmental stage and interests, including thoughtful exposure to art, music, museums, and other cultural experiences.
  • Confidently and independently take the child on walks and outings, including appointments, parks, and age-appropriate classes and activities.
  • Manage all child-related laundry, bottle cleaning, organization, and playroom upkeep with a high standard of order and care.
  • Travel with the family as needed, overseeing preparation and packing for the child and ensuring continuity of care and routines across locations.
  • Provide limited household support related to the child, including organizing deliveries, maintaining supplies, and handling occasional child-related errands.
  • Proactively prepare routines, environments, and materials while remaining comfortable allowing the parents to take the lead when desired.
  • Support the child through developmental milestones, changing schedules, sleep regressions, and future transitions with informed and consistent care.
  • Communicate clearly and thoughtfully with parents regarding observations, progress, and recommendations, exercising sound judgment.
  • Maintain clear and thorough communication with the other ROTA nanny to ensure seamless handoffs and consistency of care.

Qualifications

Candidate Profile

  • Exceptional career nanny with at least 6 years of full-time nanny experience with infants and toddlers
  • A strong understanding of child development and the ability to translate that knowledge into thoughtful, age-appropriate care and activities.
  • Confidence managing all aspects of daily care independently while working collaboratively with engaged parents and the other ROTA nanny.
  • Experience supporting important childhood transitions, including pacifier weaning, toilet learning, changing sleep schedules, and the toddler years.
  • Clear, thoughtful communicator with a strong sense of teamwork, professionalism, and discretion.
  • A genuine interest in the arts, museums and cultural experiences is highly valued.
  • Bilingual abilities are a plus, though not essential, with preference for French.
  • This role is ideal for a kind, confident, experienced caregiver with deep child-development expertise who is seeking a meaningful, long-term role with a respectful and warm private family.

Requirements

  • Valid passport and authorization to work in the U.S.
  • Willingness to travel with the family domestically and internationally when necessary
  • Must pass a background check and provide exceptional references
  • Infant and child CPR certification
  • Non-smoker / smoke-free lifestyle
  • Up-to-date vaccinations (RSV, Tdap, MMR and Flu) with proof available upon request

Salary and Benefits

  • $150k+ DOE
  • Full benefits, including a generous healthcare stipend
  • Discretionary annual bonus
