Kitchen Supervisor

Location: Flint, MI
Pay: $16.00 per hour
Job Type: Full time, 40 hrs/wk
Schedule: Varies

Job Objective: Oversee beneficiaries and Assistant Kitchen Supervisors in the kitchen while maintaining inventory, menus, ordering and Canteen.

Essential Functions:
• Train and oversee all Assistant Kitchen Supervisors, ensuring all tasks are completed on time and
accurately.
• Ensure proper scheduling of staff to cover shifts.
• Ensures compliance of separation between staff and beneficiary tasks.
• Ensure kitchen beneficiaries receive training and complete the Kitchen Safety and Compliance sheets.
• Know and execute Health Department policies and prepare for regular inspections.
• Ensure all equipment is operating according to specifications and report all variations to DRS.
• Supervise and provide daily directives and regular feedback on work therapy performance to
beneficiaries, including cooking and cleaning.
• Maintain par kitchen and canteen inventories, as well as communicating inventories to appropriate
channels. Ensure Assistant Kitchen Supervisors do the same.
• Train and work with the Assistant Kitchen Supervisors to create menus utilizing Cycle Menu
Management System, utilizing donated goods to maximize their use and quality.
• Check weekly menu, make changes as needed, and post in a timely manner.
• Create orders based on inventory that take into account current stock, cost, menu, and needs in a
timely manner.
• Seek opportunities to obtain food donations, arrange pickup, and communicate received donations to
appropriate parties.
• Track items sold in the canteen and marking the canteen cards for the appropriate amount.
• Communicate all important matters for other shift employees in the kitchen log.

Minimum Qualifications:
Education: High school diploma or equivalent.

Skills/Abilities: Ability to oversee beneficiaries – supervise and train, but not work alongside. Must be able to use a computer for communication, inventory, ordering, and canteen. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or schedule form. Ability to problem solve on the go. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.

Supervisory Responsibility:
Oversees Assistant Kitchen Supervisors and beneficiaries of the ARC program.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
ServSafe, and Allergen training certifications.

Working Conditions:
Work is performed in a kitchen environment, which is frequently warm and humid, and the noise level is usually moderate to loud.
