As a porter, you ensure cleanliness and upkeep of the kitchen, and service ware, utensils, and tools. The Kitchen Porter is responsible for maintaining multiple areas such as the kitchen, and other assigned areas is stocked and tidy throughout the day. The Kitchen Porter also conducts sanitization procedure to ensure safety measures and assists with food prep as needed.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

•Setting up, operate and breaking down dish machine, bussing and scraping trays and storing clean dishes and silverware.

•Daily cleaning of kitchen equipment.

•Daily cleaning of kitchen drains and floors.

•Wash, dry and maintain dishes. Prepare dishes, silverware, pots, pans, and other kitchen tools for cleaning.

•Set up plates, napkins, cutlery, etc. for meal service.

•Follow direction and preparation lists as outlined by Kitchen Manager,

•Clean and maintain kitchen stations in accordance with all safety and sanitation guidelines.

•Knowledge of cleaning chemicals and solutions including dilution ratio knowledge.

•Support all staff as needed.

•Assist with meal service wiping down service stations, tables, processing all dirty dishes refilling clean plates, utensils as they become available.

•Maintain and clean dish area, and self-serve stations, salad/sandwich bar etc.

•Maintain recycling and compost/trash stations. Sort and remove recycling, compost, garbage, and pallets making sure all garbage is removed before the end of day.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS (YOU HAVE)

-High School Diploma or equivalent

-Prior experience working in a commercial kitchen preferred.

-Positive attitude and ability to work well with others. -Ability to work in a fast-paced kitchen environment.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

-Availability to work evenings and weekends as needed.

-Ability to stand and engage in physical activity for the duration of the shift -Ability to lift and carry 50 lbs. frequently.

-Repetitive motions include, but are not limited to grabbing, reaching, lifting, bending, and stooping.

-Works frequently in hot and damp environment.

-Frequently immerses hands in water and water diluted with chemical solutions.

-Frequently works with sharp knives, utensils, hot kitchen equipment, tools, and plates.
