Job Description
The Kitchen Porter is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and hygiene of the kitchen, supporting the kitchen staff during meal service, and ensuring that the kitchen is a safe and healthy working environment.
Responsibilities:
- Clean and wash all kitchen supplies, including dishes, glasses, pots, pans, and cutlery.
- Ensure that food preparation areas and kitchen equipment are clean and hygienic.
- Operate industrial dishwashing machines and other cleaning equipment.
- Sweep, mop and sanitize kitchen floors and dining areas regularly.
- Dispose of waste appropriately, including food and packaging products.
- Support the kitchen staff in food preparation and cooking, including cutting vegetables and other basic tasks.
- Help with organizing and managing inventory of kitchen supplies.
- Adhere to food hygiene and health and safety regulations at all times.
- Work flexible hours, including mornings, evenings, and weekends if required.
- Maintain a positive and professional attitude towards the team members and customers.
Qualifications:
- Prior experience in a similar position or working environment is preferred.
- Good understanding of food hygiene and safety regulations.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure and multi-task in a busy kitchen environment.
- Must be physically fit and able to stand and walk for extended periods, lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Availability to work flexible hours including early mornings, evenings, and weekends.
