Sofitel Wellington invites you to elevate your career as a Kitchen Hand, where luxury meets impeccable service. We are looking for a friendly and energetic Part-time Kitchen Hand who can join our awesome Kitchen Team!

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the cleaning duties within the kitchen or food preparation area, including the cleaning of cooking and general utensils used in a restaurant and/or a kitchen. Maintain a high level of workplace hygiene and safety in the kitchen and related areas. Assist with the assembly and preparation of ingredients for cooking as required.
  • Cleaning, sanitation and storage of all cutlery, crockery, kitchen equipment and appliances, using wither industrial washing machines or hand washing as appropriate.
  • Cleaning of walls, floors and general kitchen work spaces, working to cleaning schedule as prescribed for the area.
  • Cleaning of food storage areas including fridges, cool rooms and dry goods stores, ensuring that principles of food hygiene are being observed; report any hazards or problems to Executive Chef.
  • Remove rubbish regularly, ensure that kitchen and waste areas are free of refuse. Clean industrial bins on a daily basis.
  • General maintenance and cleaning of the loading dock.
  • Explaining and enforcing hygiene regulations

Qualifications

  • Full NZ Working rights
  • A commitment to professional presentation and behaviour at all times
  • Excellent verbal communication skills
  • Physical fitness to stand for extended periods (up to 8 hours per shift)
  • A desire to grow and progress within Sofitel
  • Good level of fitness and ability to lift kitchen equipment over 10kg.
  • Organises time and work efficiently.
  • Excellent communication skills - verbal and written
  • Willingness to work weekends and public holidays
  • Initiates contacts and establishes rapport easily.
