Job Description

Fine Gold Resources is a precious metals mining company operating in the Yukon. We operate on a seasonal basis from March to October and are looking for a Kitchen Assistant to be based in a remote area near Dawson City, Yukon.

We provide accommodation and meals at our on-site camp and offer a highly competitive compensation package.

The mine operates 24/7 with two shifts each day - a day shift and a night shift. During their time off employees may stay on-site at the camp or venture to Dawson City for some time away.

Job Duties

  • Assist where needed in all areas the camp.
  • General kitchen help, including cleaning and maintaining kitchen and dining areas, washing dishes, and unloading groceries.
  • Clean the bathrooms, common areas, sleeping quarters, and any additional buildings on the camp site.
  • Maintain a clean and organized workstation throughout shift, including lunchrooms, dining room, main kitchen and storage areas.
  • Regular sweeping and mopping of all floors, including walk-in coolers and storage areas.
  • Stock and restock all needed food, beverage and paper/disposable supplies as required.
  • Dispose of all garbage as required.
  • Correctly label, date and rotate all products put out for service.
  • Assist in food production as required.
  • Receive and store supplies (food, beverages, chemical and paper/disposables).
  • Follow all safety regulations and food safe practices.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Qualifications

  • Large-scale kitchen assisting in camp settings, banquet halls and/or hotels is a strong asset.
  • Current Food Safe certification is an asset.
  • A team-player who is committed to providing client satisfaction.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple task demands and organize a work schedule.
  • Able to work independently with minimal supervision and as a team player.
  • Ability to handle the following physical demands:
    • Lift, carry, push or pull up to 50 lbs
    • Climb ladders or stairs
    • Stand, walk, squat, kneel or sit according to task for extended periods of time
    • Perform repetitive hand work requiring full use of both hands
    • Perform work with arms at full length
    • Work with arms above shoulder height
