Group Energy Manager
The Group Energy Manager will lead end-to-end procurement and vendor management for energy across the business. By implementing an efficient and economically value-added green energy strategy, the Energy Manager will ensure energy availability, optimize energy contracting costs and consumption across stores and distribution centres, while supporting the Group’s ESG objectives.
Reporting to the Group Procurement Director, this role focuses on identifying opportunities for efficiency improvements, cost optimization, and implementing solutions that support Pepco’s sustainability agenda.
Key Accountabilities
• Develop and implement energy strategies focused on cost savings and sustainability targets.
• Negotiate and manage contracts with energy suppliers and oversee energy-related services across all countries where Pepco operates.
• Provide input into energy budgets across all geographies and monitor budget performance.
• Build strong relationships with key suppliers to drive innovation and continuous improvement.
• Ensure compliance with governance standards, contract management requirements, and supplier management processes across Europe.
• Mitigate risks related to energy supply and costs while maximizing market opportunities.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders to understand business objectives and requirements.
• Work closely with the Sustainability Team to support the company’s sustainability plan.
• Ensure all procurement decisions comply with applicable legal, regulatory, and company policy requirements.
• Lead, manage, and develop the Energy Team.
Requirements
• University/Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
• Proficiency in written and spoken English.
• A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a similar role within energy procurement across Europe (retail experience preferred).
• Strong commercial and contract negotiation experience.
• Good understanding of European energy markets and the retail/hospitality sector.
• Knowledge of procurement processes, contractual terms, financial statements, and commercial law.
• Excellent understanding of sustainability requirements within the energy sector.
• Strong analytical skills and the ability to work with large volumes of data.
• Project management skills.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to build strong relationships with a wide range of suppliers and stakeholders.
• Innovative problem-solving skills.
• Strong negotiation and leadership capabilities.
• Willingness to travel.
