Job

Summary
The Kids Club Director provides leadership and oversight for the YMCA’s Before and After School Programs, off-site summer camps, and vacation camps. This role manages daily operations across multiple sites, ensures program quality and state licensing compliance, supports staff development, and builds strong relationships with families, schools, and community partners. The ideal candidate is a mission-driven leader passionate about youth development and creating safe, engaging environments for children in grades K–4.
Key Responsibilities
Program Leadership & Operations
- Oversee Before and After School Programs, including scheduling, curriculum, and continuous improvement
- Manage off-site summer camps and support vacation camps and special youth events
- Ensure programs are safe, inclusive, and developmentally appropriate
Staffing & Training
- Recruit, hire, supervise, and evaluate staff across multiple locations
- Lead staff training in safety, behavior management, curriculum, and YMCA values
- Foster a positive, accountable, and growth-oriented team culture
Licensing, Compliance & Safety
- Maintain NJ State childcare licensing compliance
- Serve as primary contact for licensing inspections and audits
- Ensure all required staff certifications and trainings are completed
Budget & Financial Management
- Develop and monitor program budgets
- Track enrollment, payroll, expenses, and revenue
- Identify opportunities for program growth and efficiency
Relationship Management
- Build strong partnerships with school districts, families, and community organizations
- Respond promptly and professionally to family concerns and inquiries
Certifications & Instruction
- Obtain and maintain YMCA CPR/First Aid Instructor and Babysitting Instructor certifications
- Deliver certification courses as needed (YMCA support provided)

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred
- Minimum 3 years of experience in youth programs, childcare, camps, or school-age enrichment
- At least 2 years of supervisory experience in a multi-site environment
- Knowledge of NJ childcare licensing (or willingness to learn)
- Strong leadership, communication, organization, and conflict-resolution skills
- Ability to work flexible hours, including occasional mornings, evenings, and weekends

Work Environment & Physical Requirements
- Hybrid role: office, school sites, and outdoor camp locations
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, lift, and actively engage with children
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
