Job Description

A kind family located in Darien, CT is looking for a full-time nanny for their four children under 6 to start asap. The general schedule will be Monday through Friday 7:30am-6pm. Flexibility to occasionally assist with weekend or date-night hours is preferred, with additional hours available for a nanny who is interested. This is a truly collaborative position with a stay-at-home-mom where the nanny will rarely be solely responsible for all four children at once; however, they should be confident and capable of caring for all four when needed, while comfortably transitioning between the needs of a baby as well as those of the older children. Tag teaming with mom to handle the logistics of four busy kids is essential. The older three children are all in school at least half day.

Responsibilities

• Full childcare for children ranging from infant to 5-years-old
• Meal prep and cooking for children
• Child laundry
• Child-related tidying and general household support, including maintaining an organized playroom and children’s bedrooms, putting away toys and books throughout the day, tidying up after meals and activities, and keeping children’s belongings organized. The family has a weekly housekeeper who handles deep cleaning; however, the nanny should be a proactive team player who is comfortable pitching in with light household tasks as needed, such as loading/unloading the dishwasher, wiping down kitchen surfaces after use, and helping keep shared living spaces neat and orderly.

• Warm, nurturing, patient, and genuinely enjoys working with young children
• Proactive and able to anticipate the needs of a busy household
• Calm and confident when managing multiple young children and competing priorities
• Experienced and comfortable with both infants and preschool/early school-age children
• Highly safety-conscious with strong judgment and situational awareness
• Reliable, punctual, organized, and responsible
• Flexible and comfortable with days that may change depending on the children’s schedules and needs
• Strong communicator who is comfortable working closely and collaboratively with a stay-at-home parent
• Interested in childhood development and/or early childhood education
• Energetic and comfortable being active with young children, including outdoor activities and outings
• Ability to travel with the family when needed
• Availability for occasional additional weekend hours

Requirements

• Legally able to work in the US
• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record (nanny car provided for any on the job driving)
• Pet friendly/comfortable with a dog and cat in the home
• Confident swimmer and comfortable supervising children in the pool

Salary and Benefits

$35-40 per hour plus standards benefits
