Job Description

The Key Account Manager, Long-term Care is responsible for developing, managing and expanding relationships with strategic provincial and national long-term care, retirement, and senior living corporations. This role is accountable for driving profitable sales growth, enhancing customer loyalty, maximizing contract compliance, and delivering comprehensive Cardinal Health solutions across assigned corporate accounts.

The incumbent serves as the primary liaison between Cardinal Health and senior leadership within assigned corporate customers, ensuring alignment of strategic objectives, product utilization, service offerings, and supply chain solutions. The role requires cross-functional collaboration with commercial sales and support, clinical specialists, marketing, supply chain, finance and leadership teams to deliver value-driven solutions that meet customer needs and support Cardinal Health's growth strategy.

The successful candidate will lead strategic account planning, identify growth opportunities, negotiate and support corporate agreements, and maintain strong relationships with key decision-makers across multi-site long-term care organizations.

Your Contributions to the Organization

  • Develop and execute strategic account plans that strengthen relationships with senior leaders and partners to align mutual business objectives and drive long-term growth across assigned long-term care and retirement accounts.

  • Serve as the primary relationship manager for strategic corporate customers, leading regular business reviews and ensuring a high level of customer satisfaction, retention, and partnership.

  • Develop and execute customer growth strategies by collaborating with internal partners to deliver integrated solutions, strengthen customer relationships, and ensure consistent delivery of the organization's value proposition.

  • Achieve sales and performance profitability targets by identifying growth opportunities, expanding product and service adoption, increasing preferred supplier participation, and securing new business.

  • Build and expand strategic partnerships with long-term care, retirement, and senior living organizations while identifying opportunities to standardize programs and solutions across customer networks.

  • Analyze customer performance, purchasing trends, market dynamics, and industry developments to identify opportunities, address challenges, and position the organization as a trusted strategic partner.

  • Lead contract management activities, including performance monitoring, renewal planning, compliance oversight, negotiation support, and implementation of customer agreements.

  • Promote value-added solutions that improve value to the customer through operational efficiency and service to enhance performance outcomes for the customer and align with strategic priorities.

  • Maintain accurate account plans, forecasts, and opportunity pipelines while preparing and delivering business reviews, performance updates, and executive presentations to support informed decision-making and account growth.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, healthcare, or a related field preferred.

  • 8-12 years of sales experience with a consistent record of meeting or exceeding targets, preferably with large non-acute customers.

  • Experience selling to large long-term care organizations.

  • Strong business, financial, and account management acumen.

  • Experience managing complex portfolios, products, or distributor relationships.

  • Strong contract negotiation and relationship management skills.

  • Excellent communication, presentation, and facilitation skills.

  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Outlook, and Salesforce.

  • Ability to work effectively across teams in a matrixed organization.

  • Customer-focused, collaborative, and results-driven.
