Type 1 diabetes care is entering a new era. We now know that type 1 diabetes is an autoimmune disease that progresses through identifiable stages before symptoms appear, and that its onset can be delayed when it is detected early. With a first-in-class therapy, Sanofi is building a new paradigm of care in Canada: identifying people at risk, staging and monitoring them, and treating before clinical diagnosis. Much of the pathway this requires, from screening and referral to treatment and infusion capacity, does not yet exist at scale and is being built now, account by account.

The aT1D Key Account Manager is a full-time position within the Gen Med aT1D portfolio within a rapidly evolving Type 1 diabetes marketplace. Focused on the aT1D ecosystem, you will call on endocrinologists, internists, diabetes educators, primary care physicians & pharmacists.

You will develop and implement integrated business/account plans that deliver the budgeted revenue and proper utilization of resources, in major key accounts, including advocacy development, access, budget management and promotional material.

Main responsibilities

• Segmenting accounts (e.g., Centers of Excellence, referring centers, or other key accounts in the Autoimmune Type 1 diabetes local care pathway) and developing in-depth knowledge of each identified key account including strategic goals, value drivers, relevant business metrics, and unique emerging needs.
• Understanding key accounts’ critical stakeholders (e.g., endocrinology / immunology ‘C-suite’ executives and key decision makers), their roles, org structure and how they influence each other in to ensure account/departmental coordination.
• Developing understanding of target accounts (e.g., Centers of Excellence or other key accounts in the Autoimmune Type 1 diabetes local care pathway) functioning and existing screening/infusion infrastructure to identify operational barriers that could prevent patients from accessing screening or treatment administration.
• Developing strategic account plans including prioritization, based on identified barriers to address opportunities. Co-creating solutions with accounts’ key decision-makers to remove operational barriers and supporting screening and monitoring initiatives.
• Collaborating to establish screening and infusion infrastructure beyond key Centers of Excellence, (e.g., specialized sites to develop home infusion solutions)
• Collaborate with the Ecosystem Manager, referring centres and treating specialists to ensure people identified through screening are referred and assessed in a timely manner, before progression to Stage 3.
• Engaging with accounts’ key stakeholders to convey a compelling narrative on disease awareness, screening, treatment options and tailoring engagement to the stakeholders’ level of maturity.
• Build conviction among endocrinologists in the clinical rationale for early intervention and in the treatment’s indication, efficacy and safety profile, translating it into intent to treat appropriate patients.
• Identify healthcare professionals with early treatment experience and, where appropriate, engage them through approved commercial programs (e.g., peer-to-peer education) to share practical experience with colleagues, in line with the Innovative Medicines Canada Code of Ethical Practices and Sanofi policies. Scientific and KOL engagement remains led by Medical.
• Orchestrate key account plans, aligned with brand strategies, supporting customer needs incorporating an omnichannel execution model to maximize sales performance in the short and long term, while looking for new opportunities
• Deliver on assigned sales and account objectives, achieving budgeted revenue targets on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis.
• Collaborating with cross-functional field-based teams (e.g., Ecosystem Manager, Medical, Market Access) in leading discussions on product access and formulary inclusion, administrative flows definition, and more generally to proactively address accounts’ needs.

Experience:

• Demonstrated record of success with a minimum of 3 years of customer facing experience.
• Desired experience in either Diabetes / Specialty / Rare disease.
• Proven results increasing provider adoption and customer engagement.
• Experience successfully launching products in the field.
• Experience collaborating in a matrix environment across sales, medical, market access and support functions.

• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with ability to effectively engage internal and external stakeholders, build and cultivate strong working relationships.

Technical skills:

• Experience in rare disease, diabetes or specialty care, with a solid understanding of the Western provinces’ healthcare systems.
• Value-based selling and objection-handling skills, including the ability to navigate private payer coverage and patient support programs in an environment where public reimbursement is still evolving.
• Demonstrated ability to use data to drive business management and sales performance across accounts.
• Disciplined pre-call planning, CRM use and follow-through to maintain accurate account records and insights.
• Digital & Analytical skills: able to analyze data, feedback and turn it into insights
• Excellent verbal & written presentation skills in English
• Must achieve and maintain compliance with all applicable regulatory, and operational rules and procedures.

Education

• Relevant University Degree, Business or Science focus is preferable.

Health, Safety and Environment related to company vehicle:

• Driver’s license & maintain all safety protocols.
• Drive company vehicle using safe driving practices, while complying with all current applicable laws and regulation, as well as all Sanofi directives
• Ensure proper vehicle maintenance.
• Successfully complete all required driver training within defined due dates including Road safety

Languages:

• English proficiency in both oral and written.

The salary range for this position is:

94,700.00 - 136,800.00

Final compensation will be determined based on demonstrated experience, skills, location, and other relevant factors. Employees may be eligible to participate in Company employee benefits programs, and additional benefits information can be found through the (CA)LINKOR (US) LINK.
