About the Role:
The Key Account Manager is responsible for developing and executing the commercial strategy for assigned customers in the Midland/Permian Basin market. This individual will build trusted relationships across customer organizations, identify business challenges and growth opportunities, and connect customers with SLB’s digital technologies, software, data, and domain solutions.The role requires a relationship-driven commercial professional who understands the local market, can navigate complex customer organizations, and is comfortable coordinating multidisciplinary teams to deliver measurable customer value and sustainable revenue growth.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and execute strategic account plans aligned with customer priorities and SLB’s commercial objectives.
Establish and maintain strong relationships with technical, operational, commercial, and executive stakeholders across assigned accounts.
Serve as the primary commercial point of contact and develop a thorough understanding of each customer’s business, operations, challenges, and decision-making processes.
Identify, qualify, and advance new opportunities across SLB’s digital software, data, AI, and technology portfolio.
Build and maintain a healthy sales pipeline while delivering against revenue, growth, profitability, and forecasting commitments.Lead the complete sales cycle, including opportunity development, solution positioning, proposal preparation, commercial negotiations, contracting, and closure.
Coordinate with technical sales, domain experts, solution architects, customer success, operations, and product teams to develop integrated customer solutions.
Translate technical capabilities into clear business value and compelling commercial propositions.
Maintain accurate opportunity, account, and forecast information within the company’s customer relationship management systems.
Monitor market activity, customer investment plans, competitors, and emerging trends within the Permian Basin.
Support customer retention, adoption, and expansion by ensuring commitments are understood and effectively transitioned to delivery and customer-success teams.
Represent SLB at customer meetings, industry events, and local networking activities while maintaining the highest standards of integrity, compliance, and professionalism.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in engineering, geoscience, business, technology, or a related field.
Relevant experience in account management, technical sales, business development, or another customer-facing commercial role.
Experience working with upstream oil and gas operators or oilfield technology and service providers.
Demonstrated ability to develop customer relationships and manage complex, consultative sales opportunities.
Strong commercial judgment, negotiation skills, and understanding of the sales process.
Ability to communicate effectively with both technical specialists and executive-level stakeholders.
Experience collaborating across technical, operational, and commercial teams.
Ability to travel regularly within the assigned territory and to other locations as business needs require.
Preferred Qualifications
Established experience and professional relationships within the Midland/Permian Basin oil and gas market.
Several years of direct experience working in or supporting the Midland market, with a strong understanding of its operators, business environment, and customer priorities.
Experience selling enterprise software, digital solutions, data and analytics, AI-enabled technologies, or subsurface and production solutions.
Technical knowledge of upstream workflows, including subsurface, drilling, production, or operations.
Experience managing strategic or key accounts with significant revenue and growth potential.
Proficiency with CRM tools, account planning, pipeline management, and revenue forecasting.
