Job Description

Key Account Manager

£45,000 - £50,000 + Commission + Company Car or Car Allowance

Territory: North of England (Manchester, Liverpool, Leeds, Bradford and surrounding areas towards Scotland)

Looking for more than just another sales role?

If you're someone who enjoys building genuine customer relationships, solving problems and growing accounts—not simply chasing transactions—this could be the opportunity you've been waiting for.

We're recruiting on behalf of a well-established, privately owned business with ambitious growth plans. With a strong reputation for delivering consultative solutions and exceptional customer service, they're investing in their sales team as they continue their journey towards a £50 million turnover.

This is a fantastic opportunity to inherit an established customer base while having the freedom and support to develop new business across a thriving territory.

The Opportunity

You'll take ownership of a territory covering the North of England, managing an existing customer portfolio worth approximately £2 million, whilst identifying and securing new business opportunities across the healthcare and facilities management sectors.

This role offers the perfect balance:

  • 60% Account Management
  • 40% New Business Development

You'll be responsible for developing relationships with around 40 established customers, increasing share of wallet, identifying new opportunities and becoming a trusted advisor rather than simply another supplier.

Alongside your existing customer portfolio, you'll also target new organisations across the region, including NHS Trusts, hospitals and facilities management businesses.

Why You'll Love This Role

Unlike many field sales positions, you'll have genuine support behind you.

You'll be joining a collaborative sales team of ten, supported by:

  • A dedicated Lead team who help identify prospects and try to book appointments - however you will book your own also.
  • Sales Support colleagues who prepare quotations, arrange product samples and assist with administration.
  • A Customer Service team managing customer orders, allowing you to focus on building relationships and winning business.
  • Salesforce CRM to help manage your pipeline and opportunities.

This means more time doing what you do best—meeting customers, identifying opportunities and growing your territory.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Managing and developing an established portfolio of key accounts.
  • Building long-term relationships with customers across multiple stakeholders.
  • Growing customer spend through consultative selling.
  • Winning new business across your territory.
  • Identifying customer challenges and recommending tailored solutions.
  • Creating account development plans to maximise growth.
  • Delivering professional customer presentations and product demonstrations.
  • Maintaining an active pipeline using Salesforce CRM.
  • Working closely with internal support teams to deliver an outstanding customer experience.

Requirements

We're looking for an ambitious sales professional who enjoys developing long-term partnerships and takes pride in delivering genuine value to customers

You'll ideally have:

  • Experience in field sales, account management or business development.
  • A proven track record of growing existing accounts while winning new business.
  • Experience selling consumable products into B2B customers.
  • A consultative sales approach with excellent questioning and listening skills.
  • The confidence to present solutions and negotiate effectively.
  • Strong commercial awareness and the ability to identify opportunities.
  • Experience using CRM systems (Salesforce would be an advantage).

Sector experience within healthcare, facilities management, cleaning or janitorial products would be beneficial but is by no means essential.

More importantly, you'll be:

  • Self-motivated and commercially driven.
  • Energetic with a genuine growth mindset.
  • Curious and open to new ways of working.
  • Organised and proactive.
  • Someone who values long-term customer relationships over short-term wins.
  • Looking for stability and the opportunity to build a long-term career.

Benefits

  • £45,000 - £50,000 basic salary.
  • Commission.
  • Company car or car allowance.
  • Warm leads and appointment support.
  • Excellent internal sales support.
  • Working pattern - 3 days visiting customer sites, with 2 days in the office - (1 from home depending on Location).
  • Opportunity to join a stable business with ambitious growth plans.

Ideal location: Manchester, Chester or Crewe, with regular travel throughout the North of England.

If you're looking for a role where relationships matter, your ideas are valued and you'll have the autonomy to make a real impact, we'd love to hear from you.

Due to the confidential nature of this assignment, further information about the business will be shared with shortlisted applicants.
