POSITION TITLE: Kettle Driver

REPORTS TO: 1) Corps Officer 2) Adminstrative Assistant

STATUS: Temporary/Seasonal, Non-Exempt

WORK HOURS: Monday through Saturday – some split shifts up to 40 Start date: November 11, 2026 End date: December 24, 2026

SCOPE OF POSITION:

Drive kettle stands and collection buckets to their locations daily per the routes scheduled. Perform other Christmas related duties that require driving such as food pick up, toy collections pick ups and other duties as assigned by the Commanding Officer.

ACCOUNTABILITY:

Your primary immediate supervisor is the Corps Officer. When the CO is not available, the Corps administrative assistant will provide direction and can answer any questions.

KETTLE DRIVER DUTIES:

  • Report each morning to participate in kettle counting
  • Assist in preparing and readying the coin counting machine for kettle counting
  • Assist with transporting kettle deposits to the bank as needed
  • Prepare and ready all needed kettle supplies, making repairs if able/needed
  • Confer daily with CO regarding suggestions for route improvement (moving workers, etc.)
  • Pick up and drop off kettles six (6) days per week per an assigned kettle route
  • Secure the kettles at the end of the day when dropped off
  • Ensure kettle workers have daily supplies as needed, delivering supplies as needed
  • Instruct kettle workers as to their daily duties, ensuring breaks and lunches are observed
  • Ensure kettle workers hours are reported accurately to CO
  • Daily visit kettle sites, outside of drop off and pick up times, ensuring workers are adequately filling their roles.
  • Report IMMEDIATELY to CO and concerns regarding workers, equipment or location logistics
  • IMMEDIATELY report to CO if additional supplies are needed through the season
  • Network with kettle volunteers, providing good attention to detail and thanking them for their service.
  • Switch out volunteer kettles as needed and directed
  • Inventory and sort, as directed, all kettle supplies
  • At end of season, inventory and sort, as directed, all kettle supplies
  • Pick up toys from Angel Trees as needed
  • Any other duty as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must posses a valid Washington State driver’s license.
  • Must pass The Salvation Army ‘s in hour driving test and Motor vehicles Records check.
  • Must be willing to continually lift 30 pounds and occasionally 50 pounds.
  • Must pass a criminal background check.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, kneel and twist on an intermittent or continuous basis.
  2. Ability to grasp, push, pull objects such as files, boxes of food or other objects and reach overhead.
  3. Ability to lift 30 pounds.
  4. Ability to operate a telephone.
  5. Ability to understand, use and respond to written information.
  6. Ability to operate a motor vehicle.
  7. Ability to operate a pallet jack.
  8. Ability to perform all tasks as assigned

Working Conditions:

Some work may be performed in outside inclement weather, and there may be some physical discomforts associated with changes in weather or discomfort with noise, rain, snow, dust, dirt, and similar.

Work Schedule / Location:

Monday through Saturday / In-person at various jobsites throughout local area.
