CNC Machinist Level 4 Job Summary
The CNC Machinist Level 4 is a highly skilled, senior-level role responsible for setting up, operating, and troubleshooting CNC equipment across milling, turning, and mill-turn platforms.
CNC Machinist Level 4 Responsibilities
• Perform full setups on CNC mills, lathes, and mill-turn machines
• Run first articles and ensure parts meet print before full-rate production
• Perform required inspections using precision tools
• Diagnose and resolve machining issues related to programs, tooling, materials, and setups
• Provide guidance and technical support to other machinists and operators
• Recommend and implement improvements in tooling and workholding
• All other duties as assigned by management
CNC Machinist Level 4 Skills and Competencies
• Advanced experience with CNC mills, lathes, and mill-turn machines
• Strong understanding of GD&T and engineering drawing interpretation
• Ability to manage multiple machines and priorities
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving mindset
• Leadership mindset with willingness to support and train others
CNC Machinist Level 4 Qualifications
• 7+ years of CNC machining experience in a production environment
• Highly proficient in interpreting G-code
• Experience with lean manufacturing workflows and terminology
• Proven ability to perform high level setups across multiple machine types
• Demonstrated ability to reduce downtime and improve process reliability
CNC Machinist Level 4 Physical Requirements
Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with required PPE including eye protection, hearing protection, and safety shoes. Ability to stand, walk, and lift materials as needed throughout the workday.
CNC Machinist Level 4 Work Environment
Manufacturing floor environment with a mix of programming, troubleshooting, and hands-on machine interaction.
