Job Description

The Koch Associate Program (KAP) is a career accelerator for early to mid-career professionals with a drive to tackle our country’s most pressing challenges in more effective, principled ways. KAP equips associates with the tools, mindsets, and community to succeed as social entrepreneurs—individuals excited to find new and better ways to break barriers and eliminate injustice. Associates spend one day each week engaging in experiential learning with Stand Together Fellowships and work at one of our many partner organizations the rest of the week. Our curriculum is designed to supercharge your development and equip you for long-term success as you seek to have an impact on the problems that prevent people from realizing their potential.

The American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC) seeks a motivated and organized professional to support the growth and engagement of ALEC’s private sector partners. This position will help implement strategies to recruit, retain, and engage private sector members and partners, while expanding sponsorship support for ALEC events and educational programming.

Working closely with the Senior Director of Partnerships and Engagement, this individual will cultivate relationships with current and prospective members, coordinate outreach efforts, and assist in developing engagement opportunities that strengthen ALEC’s network of private sector leaders and policymakers.

The successful candidate will be a proactive communicator who can manage multiple projects simultaneously, contribute to strategic initiatives, and support the continued growth of ALEC’s partnerships program. Candidates should demonstrate a strong commitment to ALEC’s mission of advancing the principles of free markets, federalism, and limited government.

Essential Functions

  • Manage a portfolio of private sector members and prospective partners, including outreach, relationship cultivation, and engagement planning.
  • Assist in the development and execution of sponsorship initiatives for ALEC conferences, policy events, and other programming.
  • Conduct outreach to prospective members and partners through meetings, calls, and written communications.
  • Prepare briefing materials, proposals, and sponsorship packages for senior leadership and prospective partners.
  • Coordinate closely with ALEC’s events and policy teams to ensure strong engagement opportunities for partners across programming.
  • Assist in developing marketing and communication materials that highlight partnership opportunities and engagement benefits.

Core Requirements

  • Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously.
  • Excellent interpersonal and networking skills, with the ability to build relationships with corporate leaders and policymakers.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across teams while also taking initiative on assigned projects.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Familiarity with state legislative processes or public policy environments preferred.
  • Commitment to ALEC’s mission of promoting free markets, federalism, and limited government.

Ideal Experience

  • 2–5 years of experience in partnerships, business development, membership organizations, or government relations.
  • Experience working with corporate partners, associations, or policy organizations preferred.
  • Experience with CRM systems such as Salesforce strongly preferred.
