The Key Account Manager (KAM) is responsible for strategically managing key healthcare accounts to drive access, adoption, and the appropriate use of opioid products. This role requires strong stakeholder management, cross-functional collaboration, and a deep understanding of the regulatory and clinical landscape to ensure sustainable business growth while maintaining strict compliance standards.
Key Responsibilities
1. Key Account Strategy & Execution
• Develop and implement tailored account plans for key hospitals and pain management centers
•Drive product adoption and ensure optimal formulary positioning within assigned accounts
•Identify growth opportunities and execute strategic initiatives to maximize account performance
2. Stakeholder Management
•Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including:
- Pain specialists
- Oncologists
- Anesthesiologists
- Pharmacists and purchasing teams
•Map key decision-makers and influence networks within accounts •Engage and collaborate with Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs)
3. Market Access & Barrier Navigation
•Identify and address access barriers related to opioid product usage
•Collaborate with internal Market Access and Medical teams to support formulary inclusion
•Ensure alignment with reimbursement policies and institutional guidelines
4. Sales & Performance Management
•Achieve sales targets for assigned key accounts
•Monitor account performance and adjust strategies based on data insights •Develop forecasts and track KPIs to ensure sustained growth
5. Market Insights & Feedback
•Gather and analyze market intelligence, including competitor activities and prescription trends
•Provide actionable insights to internal stakeholders to shape business strategy
Required Experience
Minimum 10+years of pharmaceutical sales experience, with proven experience in Key Account Management
Experience in DC listing or adoption of opioid products within hospitals Experience in opioid analgesics and/or oncology, transdermal patch markets Experience in non-cancer pain products within semi-hospitals
Knowledge and Skills
•Strong understanding of hospital systems and decision-making processes •Knowledge of regulatory and compliance requirements related to opioid products
•Prior experience handling high-value hospital accounts
•Established network within pain management or oncology segments
•Ability to manage complex and sensitive therapeutic areas
•Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to influence diverse stakeholders and decision-makers
•High level of integrity with a strong commitment to ethical promotion and compliance
•Ability to adapt to a dynamic environment and deliver results under pressure •Proven ability to work effectively across multiple functions and teams
