Job Description

You can help bring our villages to life!

At Summerset, from the moment we start developing a village, to when our residents call it home, it’s the passion and dedication of our people that brings our villages to life. We are one team united by being part of something bigger – to bring the best of life to our residents.

As a Kaitiaki at Summerset on the Landing, our Kenepuru village, you’ll play an important role in supporting the safest, healthiest and most enjoyable lifestyle possible for our Care Centre residents. You’ll be part of a close-knit team, focused on person-centred care and enhancing the wellbeing of every resident.

This role includes a strong focus on mobility support, recreation, and mealtime care – all guided by structured morning and afternoon shift schedules.

Typical duties include:

  • Supporting residents with meals and drinks, including one-on-one help where needed
  • Assisting residents to follow their mobility therapy plans (e.g., walking, gentle exercise)
  • Providing emotional support to residents who may feel anxious, isolated or confused
  • Helping maintain a safe environment, especially for those at risk of falling
  • Supporting individual and small group activities alongside Diversional and Recreational Therapists
  • Keeping accurate progress notes and alerting clinical staff to any concerns

We know that this role makes a difference - our residents love having someone there whose job is to spend time with them and put a smile on their face.

The shifts/hours for this role are: Tuesday - Thursday 9am-2:30pm

Qualifications

You’ll be naturally empathetic, kind and patient, with a genuine interest in supporting older people. This role suits someone who thrives when making a meaningful difference each day.

You’ll bring with you:

  • Willingness to complete NZQA Dementia training modules
  • Emotional resilience and excellent interpersonal skills
  • Strong commitment to teamwork and continuous learning
  • Experience working in aged care or a related support role is ideal but not essential

At Summerset, we believe diversity strengthens our team and enriches the care we provide. We welcome applications from people of all backgrounds, experiences, and walks of life.
