Ōtepoti (Dunedin) | Full-time Fixed-Term (Parental Leave Cover)
At Te Rau Ora, we are committed to a future where whānau are thriving, self-determined and well. We are seeking a Kaikōtuitui to join our Whare Tukutuku team in Ōtepoti and help connect people, ideas, projects, and kaupapa that strengthen Māori health and wellbeing outcomes across Aotearoa.
Our current Kaikōtuitui will soon be commencing parental leave, creating an opportunity for an experienced and capable professional to join our Whare Tukutuku team and continue the momentum of this important kaupapa.
We're looking for someone who is available to start in the near future and can confidently step into an established portfolio of work. The ideal candidate will bring previous experience in project coordination, stakeholder engagement, event delivery, or kaupapa Māori initiatives and be ready to build relationships, pick up key projects, and contribute from day one.
Whare Tukutuku is Te Rau Ora's National Addiction Centre, leading innovative approaches that support Māori health, wellbeing, recovery and workforce development within the Alcohol and Other Drugs (AOD) sector.
Our work brings together whānau, practitioners, providers, community leaders and sector partners to share knowledge, strengthen capability and support pathways to wellbeing and recovery. The Kaikōtuitui plays a key role in connecting people and initiatives that contribute to this vision
We're looking for someone who can naturally walk between kaupapa Māori, community relationships, and project delivery.
You'll likely bring:
Strong understanding of te ao Māori and Māori health aspirations
Confidence engaging with whānau, iwi, communities and key stakeholders
Experience coordinating projects, events, programmes or community initiatives
Excellent communication and relationship management skills
Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
The ability to work independently while contributing positively to a team environment
Creative thinking and adaptability in a changing environment
Fluency in te reo Māori, knowledge of tikanga Māori, and experience working within kaupapa Māori environments will be highly regarded. Experience within hauora Māori, addiction, community development, or wellbeing sectors would also be an advantage.
This role will suit someone who can step in confidently and contribute from day one.
Based in Ōtepoti or have firm plans to relocate
Eligible to work in Aotearoa with unrestricted working rights
Comfortable working within kaupapa Māori environments and engaging with Māori communities
An experienced coordinator who enjoys bringing people, projects, and kaupapa together.
Be passionate about supporting Māori aspirations and wellbeing
Confident managing multiple priorities, building stakeholder relationships, and taking ownership of delivery.
